Acclaim can ban my character after they see this , I wouldnt really care , I retired from Acclaim community already . [ Edited Sun Jan 17 2010, 12:24AM ] sdf

It would cost a lot money: -You need a server -Officially you need a license from Indy21 -If it's an English server, you probably need some arrangement with Acclaim about the translations and player restrictions (or else all their players come to the private server). Maybe it is possible to make an unofficial server based in a country without internet laws, but still you need a server. Most likely it will be funded based on item mall and/or p2p. I don't think any of us is so rich to set this up entirely f2p. Edit: Just saw this on Acclaim forum: http://phpbb.acclaim.com/9dragons/viewtopic.php?t=124214&sid=a99774335a242a77089301c262a526e0 [ Edited Sat Jan 16 2010, 04:18PM ] Bardo: -Gouranga-/Deva Monk/Henan Temple Szechuan: LaoSunTzu/Blue Dragon/NewWorld megadeth/Taishan Bandit/Rebelion

Who will own this server and its content? 02. How do I know if its not gonna be used as a test server for acme to try out their newer content? 03. Who will decide what content is added? And how do you make that decision? This is not only a major monetary investment, it is also a major "manpower" investment in terms of effort put in at running it(be it "coders", translators, maintenance personnel, etc) and keeping it running. And more importantly, just how do you propose on getting a copy of the game? Gonna head over to acme and borrow their installation discs? And like scoob says, how can we trust this pirate version? (Since youre pretty much saying thats what we should do) Then theres the issue at mantaining it. Unless all the people involved in its creation live fairly close to each other, or have the resources to physically be wherever the server is, this idea simply wont work As far as I know, all private versions of a game are either one of two: a service made by the publisher/developer to make money out of a niche market, OR pirate versions that charge less for playing, but still charge. Im pretty sure all those unofficial versions floating around still use servers and still hire staff to keep them running. I really dont believe theres unofficial versions of online games out there that would let you play without charging you something Im sorry, but it just sounds childish. If we had the people with the resources, the skills, the desire and most importantly the TIME to make an unofficial version of 9d, Im sure there would already be one I think youd be better off trying to find an already existing pirate version than trying to gather up people to make it, unless you will actually contribute something to the project besides moral support Props to Irrelevant for my avatar

So I am trying to get attention for the server development , Since I dont know how to code,I would code it myself if I know how to do. What I know is they need to bypass Gameguard, then listen to Sockets and decode it. but I dont know how to do it too private servers wont charge money, check l2.hopzone.com and see how the system is sdf

Downloading altered client files got a high chance of getting infected by nasty malware. I have had an eye on the client/server traffic and I doubt it would be simple to re-engineer it. The login is quite simple, but everything beyond is encrypted handshaking. Running a private server would cause legal issues with Indy21 and Acclaim, therefore you would need to run it in a country outside their reach, like Russia. Doing it wont be free, and therefore you need to charge for playing, like with "Donations". Having a private server is also having an empty server. Even some hundred players would getting lost in "vasts of space". Pretty much retired from MMO gaming due to vast amounts of work.

If you could do it,I would really like to see you try By the way I would just setup the game for 25 friends If I had server files and make the game Turkish for all and change the game play as I wanted If you could build the login server, you could share it on ragezone, and people would start the development. By the way, creating a private server is not illegal if you would just play with friends and dont advertise your server too much [ Edited Tue Jan 19 2010, 01:44PM ] sdf

Lets say .. why would people do such thing for you ? Don't Hate the player, Hate the Game ! Lost Saga homepage [/link]

Just to mention some catchwords: - Registration process - Pre-Login process - Update process - GG bypass or "legal server" simulation - communication protocol - handshake and encryption - communication balancing (i.e. line of sight) - item database (level, visual, damage, value, drop ...) - mob database (level, visual, damage ...) - character database (exp, abilities, inventory, store, trigger-flags ...) - map configuration (mob location, respawn, npc ...) - npc behavior - quest scripts - AI of mobs - damage equations (damage, armor, buffs, duffs ...) - leveling and upgrading curves - performance balance And I am quite sure even THIS is hardly half the deal. Re-engineering an game server is twice the work of developing one from scratch. All you save is developing an client, but a client is the minor problem. Acclame is having an official Server since years but still unable to manage the catches above. 9D may become abandonware before getting even to them already. Pretty much retired from MMO gaming due to vast amounts of work.

Yes you are right,I believe still some coders could do it,I am just bringing the idea to minds, since noone opened a topic like this in any forum. As I stated before,I am just bringing the idea to minds, since noone opened a topic about it. Thanks in anyways. I hope for some coders see it and at least think about it. sdf
