Acclaim will remain Acclaim, acting as a studio under Playdom. Playdom is very excited to be entering the MMO arena, and we expect the result will be a large influx of new players to The Land for you to adventure with. To accommodate we are even discussing opening a brand new server. Indy21 is also excited about the new partnership, and the potential to offer 9Dragons to an even larger audience, and we predict this will translate into renewed vigor in their creation of content. This will be my last post on the subject because, frankly I'm busy and have a lot of other things to do besides just posting here (especially when we've answered these questions many times before). This Acclaim now is not the same Acclaim of years ago. So when people say Acclaim went broke years ago, that's not entirely accurate. Yes, Acclaim 1.0 did go bankrupt. But that was a different company, one that developed and published mainly console games like Turok. Acclaim CEO Howard Marks bought the company name and rebranded it as a publisher of download games. And recently, we've begun developing our own social/casual games. This Acclaim was solvent and making money. Yes, Acclaim is now part of Playdom. The acquisition had nothing to do with bankruptcy. Playdom wanted a company with experience in the MMO (specifically MMORPG space) and liked a couple of new games we're developing. Acclaim will operate as an independent studio under Playdom. We are now making our own social games and we will continue to publish and operate the subscription-based games that we have -- like 9D and 2Moons. The day-to-day management of the game is exactly the same as it was before, run by Acclaim, with me as the point person, and The Hermit overseeing the general creative direction and marketing of the game on the US/EU side. We don't have to run our promotions or events past Playdom. Playdom is a social gaming company, making games for Facebook and Myspace and mobile. They trust our expertise in the MMO/download space and want us to run our games as we see fit. There will be no negative changes. There may be some positive changes in terms of more players.  Registered Member #193 Joined: Fri Aug 29 2008, 04:28AMPosts: 41 | i think if acclaim opens a new server, i might go back and play there for a while, but with the old servers everyone is so high in lvl that there is no low lvl player base, so it makes grinding and everything else super boring. | ||

So they basically allow Acclaim to do things their own way, eh? Well, I wasnt born yesterday. I smell something negative happening soon (Especially since Fugen is assuring players there wont be negative changes), and I suspect the scapegoat for this change will be Playdom As for "renewed vigor in the creation of content". Mhm. Compared to what, exactly? Props to Irrelevant for my avatar | ||

But this sounds interesting so Acclaim has fallen under the hands of a new master with no leash so they say. The game went from really really bad to worse... I am one of the "happy healers" that took a break from the Hermit punishment. and although my predictions about 9d were almost to the target. At this point the game is really a pain to play then a fun to play game, and Acclaim under Playdom will not change the fact of 9D US/EU falling apart and players quitting by the masses. Wisdom begins at the end. | ||
