Welcome to the Revised Complete Idiots Guide to Translating Japan 9Dragons.

Prepare the following

a) Download the 9 Dragons - Translation Tool (V1.03)

b) Download the Language Fix for Japanese Client (Choose the latest version)

** click the [Downloads] tab on top of the screen and select [Tools] to reach the Members Only download section **

c) Allow the J9D Launcher to update itself to the latest Patch Version, and EXIT the Launcher.

d) Make a Backup of NDTEXTDB_JP.XSD file from Gameleon's 9D directory (c:\Program Files\GAMELEON\NineDragons\Data\Script)

Start the translation process

01. Start the 9 Dragons - Translation Tool (V1.03) program.

02 [OPEN] the NDTEXTDB_JP.XSD file from Gameleon's 9D directory (c:\Program Files\GAMELEON\NineDragons\Data\Script).

03. [IMPORT] the Language Fix for Japanese Client (latest version) file.

04. [EDIT] add linebreaks. (this will fix the problem of quest text running outside the quest menu)

05. [SAVE] ** DO NOT use the [SAVE AS] function **

06. Quit the Translator program, and start playing the newly translated Japan 9Dragons.

REMINDER: please make a backup of the "NEW" xsd file with each new patch that comes out, before you go "tweaking" around with it.

(its not advisable to simply replace the "NEW" xsd file with a older translated xsd from a previous patch... as there's no telling what new content, or content corrections we're getting with new patches)

just follow the guide step by step, and your translating process should turn out fine.

The first time you install and play the game, you will have to translate your game before or every text will be in japanese.
Just follow scooby simple guide and check for updates from time to time if you wish.
That's it !

for your own personal information:
when people first started the game here, we had few text translated in english, so the community was contributing to translate more text, thus creating delta patches.
Now as most of the text has been translated, I've created only 1 patch to make the game easier to translate as before you had to apply the master patch, US file and delta patches.

okay im dowloading the game, i really want to play in 9d japan i tried 1 year ago but everything was japanese.Now i see that u guys did great work.
I will do that "6 steps to translate" right?

Btw another question, do we need to buy premium to play easier like acme version? and wondering the xp and drop rates.

"6 steps" will do =)

from my personal experience up to now, the version here isn't focus on item mall. But now it's up to you if you want to buy premium or not. I know couple of people who do and others who don't !

hi, I followed your instructions and did translate the xsd file, but it just happens the game is still in japanese.
Then I saw this :"The first time you install and play the game, you will have to translate your game before or every text will be in japanese. " So I deleted the game, reinstalled it, re-do the process but nothing changed. can you tell me what to do or what I'm doing wrong?

(btw, must I have the acme version installed too?)

@sacros, Its highly likely that you may have taken a wrong turn somewhere.

I do suggest checking the following;

  • 01. You are to [open] the actual NDTEXTDB_JP.XSD file within the gameleon directory (GAMELEON\NineDragons\Data\Script), and not open the backup file which you have created. Amendments made to your backup file will not affect the in-game text, as the game loads from the JP.XSD file itself and not the backup file.

  • 02. Be sure to download the most recent Language Fix for Japanese Client (03/07/2009) file, found at the link provided in the guide.

  • 03. Translating the client while the game is loaded will not work. Be sure to translated your client b4 you enter the game, otherwise the changes will not take place. There is no need to reinstall J9D if you have backup'ed the original JP.XSD file b4 you initially tweaked it.

  • 04. Be sure to use the [Save] button shown in the screeny for step 5, and not the [save as] function, as that allows you to save your changes under a different name/place/etc.

  • 05. With this new revised guide, there is no longer any need to have acme's version installed. You can choose to uninstall the US/EU version if you still have that on your computer.

  • 06. What OS are you running J9D on? WinXP? Vista? Win7? etc... There has been incidents where the translation process might not work with certain OS possibly due to it(your OS) being a bootlegged/incomplete version if i remember correctly.

Hope this helps, goodluck ^-^

hmm...

follow these steps;

01. install J9D
02. allow J9D to patch itself by starting the launcher
03. exit J9D launcher after its patched to the most recent version.
04. start the translation process.

its essential to allow the game client to bring itself to the most recent patch, before you work the translation process.

otherwise any translated text will be overwritten again after the launcher patches the game.

i'll amend the guide to include this steps...

thanks for bringing it to our attention ^-^

The scroll are still in japanese as they are not part of the language file. If you want them in english you will have to replace them with english one in folder:
%APPDATA%\GAMELEON\NineDragons\BOOK

i've removed the link i've made in the guide, cuz i somehow suspect that others maybe encountering problems accessing the download page directly from the old links i've created.

from now onwards, everybirdy should click on the "download" tab on the top of the screen and select "tools" to access the 2 required files for translating J9D.

Hey there! I know I've already asked about making my own, small/smallish patch for the community in the Chatbox, but to avoid me writing more in there so that I don't spam, I thought I should ask again here. Oh, and yes, I read all of this, and the 9Dragons Translator Manual. : P

Edit - And also because I'm going to sleep right now- it's 4:30 in the morning for me right now! >.<;;;
