Maybe you noticed, our Website was not reachable during the past few hours. Everything was fine with the Server, but someone in the Datacenter ripped out the Network-Cable. Now, they played it back. Lets hope next time, when the Janitor is cleaning the cables, he is more carefully.

As Gameleon announced the servers of 9D Japan got closed on November 30, 2009. The Japanese realm had a big community from outside Japan, especially "refugees" from the US realm. Even Gameleons excellent support and game management was not enough to make 9D a success in Japan. I am sure it was not an easy decision for the management, dropping the whole realm, but we have to accept that Japan are hard grounds for MMO Games. My special thanks goes to all Gameleons officials and game masters, who not just allowed us to play on their servers but also integrated our players into their community, even game events. I am quite sure it was not an easy decision as well, since Japanese might or might not accept foreign players among them. Another special thanks goes to our moderators, all the contributors who made the language fix possible, and of course everybody building this community as well. This website will stay, even without 9D Japan. I started a forum for the other Asian Realms. Time will show which direction the community is moving, and everybody is invited to discuss other MMO games as well. We started as a free speech platform around Acclaims 9D, and I am very sure many other games having demand for free speech places as well.

Rohan - Server Merge

I am sort of late with this News, but Rohan is not really in my Focus anymore. Some days ago Rohan USA did a server merge. To get behind this its interesting to have an eye on the history of Rohan. In 2008, after a short hype Rohan was creating a huge population. Sadly over the half of these "players" have been bots. When the "company" behind the bot program started to charge for their "service", Rohans player population got halving down within a few days. At higher levels Rohan became hell of a grinding game. Without free boting the majority lost their motivation for the game. YNKs official answer was the Item mall, containing fraudulent overpriced items, having either an heavy impact on the balance, or even sometimes no noticeable effect at all. As a result the game community dropped slow but constantly, as shown in this example for Torian:Officials tried to counter it by introducing new payed content on a weekly base. But people complained about the game in general, like horrible refinement rates and eternal unfixed bugs. Without faith in quality, people are not motivated to invest, but YNK failed to recognize this simple reason, running for maximizing short profits at all costs. In January 2009, YNKs technicians messed up parts of the server load measure and player counting code. These days the servers denied players to login because they assumed to be packed already. It took YNK several days to resolve the bug. They made some realm wide server resets and increased the server capacity a few times to trick out their own machines. Because of this theres no valid server load data present for this time. But YNK also took the chance to silently "adjust" the server capacity to a way lower value than before the problem. In other words, fewer players causes a "higher" population value. But it didnt help, the server load kept dropping. The average load was not affected that hard anymore, but the peak load was, signing a dropping communities interest in general. People play lesser during main times but stall and chat over the day. Now YNK decided to merge the five existing servers into two. Marea, Syrephis and Torian merged into Ohn, while Ahkma and Silva merged into Shielyn. Additional they started a "new" Server called Tempest. YNK "managed" to drop the interest in their game to a fraction of it, within about one year. Just because of mislead mall policy and bad game management. It will be interesting to keep an eye on Rohans future development.

Hi everyone, my Datacenter is experiencing connectivity problems with their network. Replacing a Switch did not lead to the expected result. Therefore our website may not response sometimes. Its not the Server, neither a hacking attempt of Acclaim *Boohoo*Because of this problem, many of the recent red lines in the server history do not mean the Game Servers being offline, but our Webserver being unable to check the status.

YNK took more than an week to identify and fix the bug within their Server load measure. During this time they "adjusted" the capacity several time to trick the clients who disallow logon at "full" servers. In the past 24 hours the load results followed their regular scheme and look valid again. YNK adjusted the capacity back to a realistic value. Since the load now is 10-15% higher than it was prior the bug, its obvious the new capacity is lower than the old was. For the measure this means the load of 2008 is not comparable with the load of 2009!The invalid days has been taken out of long-term analysis to avoid miscalculations.

Since the last maintenance the load of all Rohan USA servers climbed up to full ,during the last 2 days. This is not caused by a raise in players or bots but the servers them self. Something with the server software seem to run crazy consuming more and more CPU load. Theres player reports of login problems and lags marking the issue as critical. Actually YNK did not react to the server problems nor giving out any kind of statement. Update: Finally YNK gave a response, not by a news entry or sticky thread but a moderators on-liner reply: Kweli wrote ...Post by Kweli on Fri Jan 02, 2009 11:37 amWe are currently aware of the issue and working on a resolution.2nd Update: We got an official response from YNK about the server issue:http://forum.playrohan.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=39484From their statement the servers got problems "counting" the concurrent user and "hot-fixed" the problem temporary by doubling up the slot capacity. Ahkma got rebooted and started the counting process at Zero.
